Mended Hearts

Parents of a child diagnosed with cardiac disease are helped by a network of parents
whose children have already undergone cardiothoracic surgery at Rainbow. If they wish,
the family of the new patient is paired, prior to surgery, with a family whose child has had
a similar diagnosis. The experienced family is available for emotional support, resources,
and information.Mended Hearts is a national organization initially designed for adults who have undergone
heart surgery. Rainbow established one of the first pediatric subgroups of the organization
and is part of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of Mended Hearts, Inc.

PEND (Parents Experiencing a Stillbirth or Neonatal Death)

PEND is a support group for parents led by parents who have experienced a perinatal
loss. Meetings take place in Rainbow on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The
topics discussed are those brought informally by the parents who attend. The leaders may be
